Hawaiian photographer Christy Lee Rogers has been obsessive about water all of her life, and her newest work, “Muses” completely highlights it. Thought to be a pioneer in underwater images, Rogers has developed model and method so superior, she earned common worldwide acclaim. Her work embraces the distinctive high quality of sunshine refraction between the floor and layers of water, and her private strategy is to honor and discover the frailty of our existence inside the components round us. Swirls of intertwined figures and their flowing material make Rogers’ images look as dramatic as 17th-century work.
“I like water and I’m comfortable when it’s raining, so it was a pure bond,” the photographer advised Bored Potato. “I grew up surrounded by water, on the island of Oahu. I used to be first drawn to those pure dichotomies in water of freedom, weightlessness, house, and serenity after which on the opposite facet – an incapability to breath, vulnerability, stress and chaos; so it’s a robust device to specific these identical manifestations in life and particularly in mankind.”
“We’re all so related to water, made up of water and given life by water, so it must be essential. However we do take it as a right, and pollute our oceans and rivers like ravage animals. My photos are solely made potential with the water as an inventive supply and power. It’s like within the film ‘Moana,’ the place the water involves life.”
“My thoughts is chaotic,” she added. “Inspiration is available in from all instructions, virtually in a non-comprehensive method many instances. I'd say music is my predominant lifeblood, movie and poetry. I discover big inspiration within the wild and romantic tales from previous folklore and Greek Mythology, J. R. R. Tolkien’s Elves, Atlantis, the poetry of Michelangelo, the concepts behind the Renaissance, movies by Federico Fellini, texts about house and time, the gorgeous costumes and units of Baz Luhrmann, Muse, U2 lyrics, the previous movies of Georges Melies, the music of Itzhak Perman, Hans Zimmer, Coldplay, Think about Dragons and Danny Elfman for Cirque du Soleil. However by means of all of this, my predominant inspiration continues to be the sweetness and insanity of mankind, together with myself.”
Trying to find hope and freedom, Rogers felt like she simply needed to categorical herself on this specific method. Both “Muses” involves life or she rots away. The method, nevertheless, wasn’t a free-flowing one. “Earlier than each shoot, I’m a nervous wreck inside and I don’t know why,” she stated. “It appears like it will likely be the final photos that I ever take. I’m attempting to take the viewer to a spot that’s not right here, and there’s some cloudiness to that. One thing that I've to really feel and never overthink.”
