Hello, my title is Romain Jacquet-Lagrèze, I’m a photographer from France. “Concrete tales” is a set of real instants from the every day lifetime of Hong Kong’s inhabitants on the town’s rooftop. All of the pictures are non-staged and I needed to watch for the very proper second with a view to seize them and present the vernacular tradition of individuals residing in such an especially urbanised setting.

This sequence started with a stroke of luck. It was one morning in 2014 when I discovered myself on a rooftop whereas scouting for an additional photograph challenge. The sky was very clear that day, and the rising solar illuminated the town little by little, opening small pockets of sunshine by the buildings. At that second, a patch of rooftop close by was all of the sudden bathed in mild, and one thing on it moved. Trying extra intently, I realised it was somebody mending an aerial, as if spotlighted by the solar. I rapidly snapped the scene, entranced by the magic of the second.
