Heath Ledger's Daughter Matilda Ledger Looks Just Like Her Dad,

Michelle Williams wife of Heath Ledger has understandably kept her daughter, Matilda Rose Ledger, out of the limelight.Over the past 11 years, though, Matilda has grown up to look just like her father: the late, great Heath Ledger.Although we lost Heath all too soon, his memory continues to live on through the ever-evolving Matilda.

When Matilda's parents met.

Heath Ledger and Michelle Williams fell in love while filming Brokeback Mountain. The couple scored their first Oscar nominations for their stunning performances in the film. While neither took home the gold, they did bring home an even greater treasure.

In April of 2005, it was announced that Heath and Michelle were expecting their first child together. That's definitely the look of love right there. There's no denying it.

Matilda is born.

Matilda Rose was born to Heath and Michelle on October 28, 2005. She also gets to call Jake Gyllenhaal and Busy Philipps her godparents! Jake and Heath worked together on Brokeback Mountain and Busy has known Michelle since they starred in Dawson's Creek.

Over the following couple of years, the family lived together in Brooklyn, New York. Look at those chubby cheeks! They both have the same expression on their faces. She really does take after him!

Look at those golden locks! It's easy to guess that this was Heath when he was younger. As you can see, baby Heath looked just like baby Matilda.

Matilda continues to grow.

In 2007, Heath and Michelle broke up after being together for three years. By this point, Matilda and her father were starting to share an even greater resemblance.

Not only do they share similar traits, they both know how to rock a pair of shades. Oh, and they love the harmonica. Matilda already looks like she's on her way to becoming a fashionable young girl.

What about her name?

Heath and Michelle chose the name Matilda together, with Heath saying, "It just seemed right... There's something kind of ancient about the name. It's got such a weight and beauty to it as well and, I don't know, it just rolled off the tongue."

The story behind the name continues.

Heath added that the name pays homage to his heritage because it's widely believed that Australia's national anthem should be "Waltzing Matilda."

Sharing another special moment.

As she clings to her daddy's leg, it's hard not to notice how much Matilda looks like Heath. Every kid does this. There's something reassuring about clinging onto your parents' legs.

Heath's passing.

Heath Ledger tragically passed away on January 22, 2008. He left behind a beautiful daughter and a remarkable acting career. 

Heath becomes a posthumous Oscar winner.

In 2009, Ledger won an Academy Award for his haunting portrayal of the Joker. It was decided that Matilda would own her father's award upon turning 18 in 2023.

Life goes on.

Matilda was only two years old when her father died. After Ledger's passing, Michelle did everything in her power to make sure her daughter maintained a happy, normal lifestyle.

Matilda celebrated her ninth birthday in 2014. With each passing year, we continue to see more of Heath in her. And there's definitely a bit of Michelle, too.

She may be only 11 but she's already almost as tall as her mother. Looks like she'll be taking after her father in more ways than one.

A new documentary called I Am Heath Ledger has just been released and it looks like everyone wants to know how Matilda has been getting on without her father.

A potential acting career?

With both of her parents and her godparents in the acting business, people will always be curious if Matilda will choose to become an actor, as well. Perhaps she'll even act alongside her mom!

Matilda's still just a kid.

They grow up so fast, but Matilda's not done growing up yet. We can't wait to see the woman she becomes. With Michelle and Busy as role models, we think she's going to be just fine.

She's growing up and we can't wait to see what she'll get up to.

Whatever the future holds for Matilda, we have a feeling that Heath's memory will continue to shine through his daughter.
